I saw this in the store the other day and wonder if anyone has seen it and knows if it is a piece of crap or not.

Re: Looking for Lulu - documentary
Fri, May 14, 2004 - 9:41 AMI liked it. Of course it could have been a lot better but it's really the only thing out there as far as LB documentaries go. If you're a fan, you should see it.

Mon, July 5, 2004 - 4:17 PMI bought it off of eBay, skeptical myself with Hugh Hefner as the producer, but it was definitely worth it. Mr. Hefner's produced documentaries on other silent films stars too, like Clara Bow. -

Re: Looking for Lulu - documentary
Thu, March 9, 2006 - 9:11 AMI just watched it last nite. I got it off netflix. I'm still reading the biography which definitely gives more details. I felt the documentary could've been a little longer. I felt like it flew by. But seeing the footage of her on and off film was incredible for me. Also the rare interviews as well. She was such the cat's meow! Even seeing her as an old woman, she was still beautiful and captivating. -

Re: Looking for Lulu - documentary
Fri, March 10, 2006 - 1:25 PMYeah - I though the interviews with her as an old woman were great -
I though it was interesting that she had such long hair = LolOloL
I wrote to the director - Hugh Neely to ask about the source of those interviews -
He gave me the name and address of the owner of the footage - he said there was a lot more of that interview available but the owner wanted a HUGE amount of money per minute to use any of it -
Hopefully someday the guy will die and it will be released in some other form . . . -

Re: Looking for Lulu - documentary
Fri, March 10, 2006 - 3:30 PMIt's not bad. You get a great sense of why she was great and how fascinating of an older woman she'd become, but a lot of it involves her retelling stories printed in their entirety in the book "Lulu In Hollywood" which reprints a good hunk of her writing.
